Hand Traffic Signals are widely used by Traffic Police personnel in rural areas / districts of West Bengal to regulate Traffic except at big crossings where Auto Manual Traffic Signals have been installed. Even under the Police Commissionerates viz. Bidhannagar, Barrackpore, Howrah, Asansol-Durgapur and Siliguri, Hand-Traffic Signals are being used at small crossings and intersections. Moreover, hand-traffic signals are very useful in regulation of traffic on busy crossings in urban areas / commissionerates when Auto Manual Traffic Signals goes out of order due to power failure or any kind of malfunctioning.
